Please note that Bridgeway Care Home now has a Defibrillator!!!
Hopefully we will be able to help save lives.
A defibrillator is an electrical device that provides a shock to the heart when there is a life-threatening arrhythmia present. The arrhythmia that we worry about is called ventricular fibrillation. This is a very rapid erratic beating of the heart. When someone collapses with a cardiac arrest, their heart can go into a kind of quivering limbo called fibrillation. One of the most effective ways to get it going again is with a sudden powerful electric shock—and that's the life-saving job a defibrillator does.
